Les Ambassadeurs ~ La Grande Écurie is the convergence of two musical groups with prestigious backgrounds. On the one hand, La Grande Écurie and La Chambre du Roy, founded in 1966 by Jean-Claude Malgoire. The ensemble has left its mark on musical history by opening up the stage to period instruments, a move that has inspired many musicians. The dean of specialist ensembles, this orchestra has rediscovered 6 centuries of music, from Machaut to Debussy. On the other, Les Ambassadeurs, a young and dynamic ensemble created by Alexis Kossenko. His work has been noted for its eloquence and its performances of Bach, Purcell, Mozart or Beethoven, Rameau and the French Baroque. Having lost their founder in 2018, the musicians of the Grande Écurie chose Alexis Kossenko to take over. A former member of the Grande Écurie, this renowned flautist's approach and wide-ranging repertoire naturally follow in the footsteps of his illustrious predecessor. In 2020, Alexis Kossenko foresaw a shared future for the two orchestras. The orchestras joined forces to carry out their mission as musical ambassadors with ever greater fervour and passion. Today, Les Ambassadeurs ~ La Grande Écurie boast a rich discography: Per l'Orchestra di Dresda, Rameau's Zoroastre, Achante et Céphise, Walckiers l'iconoclaste, Mendelssohn: Symphonies Nos. 4 & 5 and Le Festin Royal du Mariage du Comte d'Artois. The partnership with the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles is set to intensify in the coming seasons. The ensemble is preparing to tour Lully's Atys in 2024. The musicians of Les Ambassadeurs ~ La Grande Écurie are also working on Bach's Cantatas and Passions. They are preparing to tackle the works of Vivaldi and Rameau's Dardanus in 2025. At the same time, the orchestra organises cultural events for a variety of audiences in the Hauts-de-France region.
