For her new album Cello Tango, Ophélie Gaillard brings her cello to Argentina!

A cello virtuoso, Ophélie Gaillard stands out with a unique journey where her instrument becomes a true travel companion—a passport to the world’s cultures. She explores a wide range of repertoires without borders: from Baroque to contemporary, and from classical to popular music.

With Cello Tango, she travels across the birthplace of tango, of Piazzolla and Ginastera, of nueva canción, as well as the traditional sounds of Andean music and chacarera. Surrounded by major figures who have marked her artistic path—such as bandoneonists Juanjo Mosalini and William Sabatier, guitarist Tomás Bordalejo, and the voices of Nahuel di Pierro and Inés Cuello—Ophélie Gaillard shares her musical favorites, from reimagined classics like Volver and La cumparsita (Some Like it Hot) to poetic gems like Puneña or Ginastera’s Canción al árbol del olvido, in a raw and authentic journey driven by passion and uncompromising freedom.

I believe that a performer can only find the right sound and tone if they are constantly in motion, guided by insatiable curiosity and shaped by the encounters along the way.
