François-Xavier Poizat records Ravel's complete piano works for the first time

The Aparté label welcomes pianist François-Xavier Poizat for an ambitious project centred on Ravel, to mark the composer's 150th birthday. Seduced by Maurice Ravel's music from an early age, François-Xavier Poizat is now recording his complete works with piano, after working on them for almost 20 years.

The piano, the composer's favourite confidant, played a central role in Maurice Ravel's life and work. This complete recording, the first to be undertaken by a single pianist, carried out over a period of 18 months and with the collaboration of more than 120 musicians, was a unique adventure and an unparalleled immersion in the composer's intimacy. For François-Xavier, the project was also an opportunity to build on musical complicities with renowned artists such as conductor Simone Menezes, at the helm of the Philharmonia Orchestra, pianists Louis Schwizgebel and Anaïs Cassiers, cellist Jamie Walton and violinist Michael Foyle, along with vocalists Thomas Dolié, Florent Karrer, Brenda Poupard and Suzanne Jerosme, flutists Héléna Macherel, Loïc Schneider and Natan Ca' Zorzi, clarinetists Panagiotis Giannakas and Quentin Chartier, cellist Constantin Macherel and the Quatuor Voce... And let's not forget Yves Marcotte and Valentin Liechti (double bass and drums), who punctuate this complete work with a jazz standard, a genre that Ravel was particularly fond of and in which François-Xavier Poizat also plays.

To be released on 25 October 2024, this complete set includes 6 volumes and a detailed 120-page booklet in a limited edition box set, which the Aparté label is proud to present!
