Reicha: Grande symphonie de salon - Beethoven: Septet, Op. 20
Le Concert de la Loge, Julien Chauvin
AP211 - 1CD - 75' - Nov 8, 2019

Beethoven and Reicha, both born in 1770, were close friends for many years, notably in the orchestra pit in Bonn where they met, one on viola, the other on flute. On the occasion of their 250th anniversary, Le Concert de la Loge pays tribute to them jointly in a disc that brings together Beethoven's Septet, Op. 20 and Reicha's Grande Symphonie de salon No. 1. Hybrid works, situated as they are at the crossroads of chamber music and symphony, they reflect the taste for experimentation so dear to their composers. The sophistication of Beethoven's instrumental lines, beneath the apparent gallantry of the entertainment, responds in diptych to Reicha's symphonie de salon, which Berlioz praised when he was appointed to the Music Section of the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
