Four of Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder and the Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss are showcased here, and pieces by Franz Liszt and the lesser-known Korngold ideally complete a fine panorama of postromantic lieder dating from the turn of the twentieth century, with the intimacy of which Sarah Traubel – here in excellent company! – proves to be perfectly in her element!
