Dutilleux & D'Haene: Concertos et nocturne pour violon et orchestre
Yossif Ivanov, Kazushi Ono, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Lyon
AP007 - 1CD - 62 - Sep 23, 2010

Acclaimed as "one of the great violinists of tomorrow" (Diapason), Yossif Ivanov, at the age of twenty-three, has rapidly established himself as one of the most important violinists of the younger generation.

His first recording, released by Ambroisie/Naïve, was awarded the "Diapason d'Or de l'Année" in November 2006. Subsequent recordings have all been warmly welcomed by the critics.

He is now pursuing an international career, and on this CD he offers us the fruit of a long collaboration with the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Lyon, conducted by Kazushi Ono, in a repertoire that has not yet been recorded, if at all.

Dutilleux's violin concerto is one of the composer's most beautiful works. The two works, L'Arbre des songes and Sur le même accord, are combined for the first time on a single disc. They are set alongside the Violin Concerto by Dutilleux's pupil Rafaël D'Haene, recorded for the first time by the composer's preferred interpreter.

A rare, accomplished disc, a challenge for the young violinist, who here signs his entry among the masters of the instrument.
