Ballad in Red (Renié, Caplet, Debussy, Hindemith, Salzédo)
Emmanuel Ceysson, Quatuor Voce
AP179 - 1CD - 72' - Apr 27, 2018

The harp prodigy Emmanuel Ceysson, member of the orchestra of the Opéra national de Paris and more recently of the Metropolitan Opera, is a real star.

The scores come to life under his fingers: Debussy’s impressionist atmospheres shimmer, Caplet [and Henriette Renié]’s fantastic sceneries come alive, and the beauties of Hindemith's writing unfold through the infinite palette of this instrument-band.

Powerful in the low register, crystalline in the high notes, the harp matches harmoniously with the four instruments of the quartet: the timbral possibilities are extended and amplified. Gustavo Leone makes the most of this original instrumental combination in his Red Quintet.

Placed under the sign of mystery and poetry, this recording crosses the 20th century and includes, alongside the giant Debussy, more confidential musicians. The opportunity is given to Henriette Renié and Carlo Salzédo, well known to harpists, to now introduce themselves to the general public through the bewitching interpretations of the virtuoso Emmanuel Ceysson.
